VMUG Voice Newsletter, 2nd Edition & vSphere Training DVD giveaway

The second edition of our new VMUG Voice newsletter went out earlier this week.  You can find an online edition of it here.

An online copy of the Inaugural Issue from June is available here.

This publication is still a work in progress and it’s your newsletter so please don’t hesitate to provide feedback.  You feedback is invaluable as we work to make this a newsletter that provides content that is of value to the VMUG community.

I have one copy of Elias Khnaser’s VMware vSphere 4 Training Course to give away to someone who provides valid feedback between now and the end of the day on Friday, August 13th.  I will put the names of everyone who provides a real, useful (good or bad) comment into a hat, box, bowl, whatever I have handy and blindly draw one.

  1. I really like the Voice and appreciate its format, layout, and clarity. It is easy to skim, pick out what headlines relate to something that I am interested in. A good example of this is the Tech Tip of the Month. There is enough content below each headline to peak my interest and get me to go read the full story. By the way, that was a really useful tip. I love learning how to manipulate and control a VM from the command prompt.

  2. Rod,

First of all, great job as always making things happen in Wisconsin. Just a few administrative things:

    1. I went to the July newsletter using the link above (http://app.connect.vmware.com/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). I then went to link at the bottom (“To manage your profile and subscription preferences, please go to your VMware Profile here”). *That*, in turn, took me into a “Manage your VMware Profile” account page for *your* account. Don’t worry – I didn’t change anything, but “something isn’t right” (Oingo Boing song).

    2. If you click on the The “VMware User Group”/”VMUG” banner at the top of the newsletter, it merely takes one to http://www.vmware.com. I thought it might take me to something else such as a VMUG-specific site .

    3. Is there any way to get this via an RSS feed? I prefer RSS feeds over e-mail newsletters or having to “camp on a website” because they are more “portable”.

    4. There are some nice training discounts that were mentioned in the June newsletter but not the July newsletter. I’d repeat the news again in August unless they have expired.

    That’s it for now.

    Regards,

    Tom Kustner

  3. Tom,
    Thanks for the input.
    1) fixed
    2) I will bring this up at the next VMUG BoD Communications Committee meeting. I would think that this should link to the VMUG site.
    3) I will check to see if we can get this set up to provide the newsletter via a RSS feed.
    4) The training discount you mentioned from the June issue should be good through the end of the year. I will see about getting this information repeated.

    Rod

  4. Both Tom & Caleb will be getting a copy of Eli Khnaser’s VMware vSphere 4 Training Course. Thanks for taking the time to provide some input and to help out the VMUG Community, enjoy the training.
